i can feel my heart hammering in my chest, along with pain in my chest and throat when i breathe. it started with symptoms of tight chest, like someone was sat on it! but now i get these plapatations esp on a night. i took my heart rate during one of these little ”attacks” and it was 89. i know my normal rest rate is 70 so im wondering if i should worry about any of this?

    Starting with the chest pain; normal heart rate is between 60-100, so 89 isn’t abnormal. Heart rate will of course rise to meet the demands of the body. It sounds like you could be describing anxiety episodes, however this needs to be evaluated, see your GP and he will run tests.
    The breast lumps of course need evaluating too. Most breasts lumps are harmless benign cysts but occasionally they can be cancerous. Perhaps you are anxious about this and this is causing you anxiety?
    I know it’s easy for us to say, but try to stay calm in the meantime. Breast cancer at your age would be extremely rare. The odds are stacked in your favour.

    The normal pulse rate of a resting person is 60-100 beats per minute(bpm). Pulse rate over and above100 bpm may be taken seriously. Heart palpitations can be caused by:
    * Exercise
    * Anxiety, stress, fear
    * Fever
    * Caffeine, nicotine, cocaine, diet pills
    * Overactive thyroid
    * Anemia
    * Hyperventilation
    * Low levels of oxygen in your blood
    * Medications such as thyroid pills, asthma drugs, beta blockers, or anti-arrhythmics. (Medications to treat an irregular heart rhythm will sometimes cause a different irregular rhythm).
    * Mitral valve prolapse, a condition in which the valve that separates the left upper chamber (atrium) from the left lower chamber (ventricle) of the heart does not close properly
    * Heart disease
    Take ECG and consult your doctor or a Cardiologist.

    On one extreme it could be anxiety
    On another extreme it could be signs of a severe heart disease such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. I’ve had your exact symptoms and I’m on the hypertrophic extreme.
    Do you have swollen wrists or ankles?
    Do you have problems with this tightness at certain times like during exercise or walking up a hill or long stairs?
    Do you have a heart murmur? Any doctor can tell you.
    Do you have theses attacks when you lay down particularly after a meal? A full stomach and shifting your wieght to your back both put pressure on your heart and associated organs.
    If you can answer firmly yes to any of the above questions, then this is likely a physical problem, not just anxiety.
    Heart problems can only be diagnosed with tests. No one on this forum will be able to tell you any more.

    if the doctor would have noticed something very abnormal thus causing your life being in danger… im sure he wouldnt wait 2 weeks to you tell that something is wrong. you would of known the worst news immediately. im pretty sure that you are fine!! the chest tightning and the heart palpitations are due to your high level of anxiety caused by the anticipiation of getting the results from your doctor. you are only worried, scared and trust me, the chest tightness and and heart palpitations you are experiencing have nothing to do with the lumps you have. you checked your heart rate right in the middle of a panic attack which of course its going to be extremely high. once you calm down your over-anxious mind, check your rate again, and you will notice that your heart rate will be back to normal. relax, woman!! :) you are totally fine!!! take care!

    It could be panic attacks, or a whole bunch of other conditions.
    See your doctor as soon as possible. If the pain gets unbearable, call an ambulance.

    Go see your GP. It’s probably just anxiety but it best to get these things checked out. Do you have pains anywhere else or other symptoms?

    Why are you asking on here, when you should go to your Dr and get a check up to be on the safe side.
