I’ve been to the doctor for chest pain but I am okay. I have anxiety but sometimes I still get pressure/pain in my chest. Everything I read about chest pain from anxiety talks only about panic attacks but I was wondering if anxiety can cause general chest discomfort?

Yes it can, I get it too.
Yes, it can. Anxiety attacks can cause chest pains because when one feels threatened, adrenaline is automatically released to prepare the body for flight. Adrenaline speeds up the heart and breathing rates and causes muscles to contract. You may experience heart palpitations as well. The chest pains felt during an anxiety attack may also be caused by the release of stomach acids and indigestion.
The symptoms of anxiety attack will positively respond to panic-control techniques. Deep breathing and relaxation exercises, switching the focus of thoughts to humorous or pleasant events or ideas, doing math problems or counting can all draw your attention away from the chest pain and other symptoms of panic attack, usually within a few minutes.
Yes. When I get anxious my chest tightens up a lot and I feel a lot of pressure or pain in my chest. I know that these symptoms come along with anxiety or panic attacks also, but I don’t get full on panic attacks very often. I have a lot of regular anxiety though, and what you just described “general chest discomfort” sounds like what I have also. Probably a normal symptom of anxiety.
Long-term stress is linked to a hormone, cortisone, being in your body and that can cause all sorts of physical effects. Chest-pain and discomfort is a common one.
I myself have experienced that too, when feeling anxious or just stressed out about things for a long enough time, my chest would feel tight and uncomfortable, but no pain.
I have an anxiety disorder and I also have issues with related acid reflux and gastric ulcers when I’m overstressed. I started having severe chest pains during a really rough semester in college found out it was acid reflux going into my esophagus causing ulcers there. I started drinking a full glass of milk 3 times a day and this ended up curing the problem within a couple weeks.

Well, I have the same problem. I have anxiety, caused when I don’t have my mind on something, and I have also had uncomfortable chest pains. I have had different types, such as a pain when I breathe in, or where it just hurts in general. Now, might sound weird, but the chest pain could be gas.
I’m not a doctor but from my experience with my mother I feel pretty safe in saying it can cause prolonged chest discomfort. Even when she’s not having panic attacks and is just anxious she has it. She’s been to doctors and they’ve been unable to find anything else wrong with her.

Everyone reacts differently to different types of stresses. Yes, it could. It could be a psychosomatic response. Just get checked out by your doctor to make sure it’s nothing serious.
Yes.
You are stressing out our heart.
You are forcing it to pump faster, and harder to supply blood to the rest of the body.
