Chest Pains And Coughing?

October 21st, 2009 by admin Leave a reply »

Please advise of what to do.
A family member who has gone through dramatic stress today is experiencing the following symptoms:
Chest Pain
Severe Coughing
Difficulty Speaking
Difficulty Breathing
Headache
Pounding Heartbeat
Irregular Heartbeat
His age is 70.
We know this is brought on by severe emotional stress and has been happening for 6 hours now. He refuses to go to a doctor. Is it serious and I should call the hospital, or should I just let him sleep?

In this situation, I don’t think he should be given a choice. This could be nothing, or it could be life-threatening.
If I were you, I would call the ER and ask for the “triage nurse.” (pronounced tree-ahjz) That person could advise you and help you not to feel guilty about having your family member be checked out.
Inside, he may be thinking it is something serious, but doesn’t want to find out. The power of denial is incredibly strong.

Eat less animal fat like meat, eggs, cheese & ice cream.
