I Have Chest Pain When I Move A Certain Way And Have A Few Questions?

February 4th, 2010 by admin Leave a reply »

I was wondering what this could be. I am 22 years old and in good shape, I run probably 10 miles a week and bike about 30-40 miles. About three days ago I noticed that when I moved a certain way my chest hurt moderately in the center. It started to go away with rest but now it is back and seems worse than ever. It kind of hurts when I breath, although the pain is mild. The pain extends a bit to the left side but is mainly in the center of the chest and hurts more when I press on the area. My blood pressure and heart rate are normal if that means anything. I can’t remember doing any activities that would hurt that area, although as I mentioned I am very active.
So my questions are:
-Are there any muscles in that area that could be injured with my symptoms?
-Would I know if I had a bruised or broken rib?
-Could I have some other problem like with the heart or lungs?
I am reluctant to go to the doctor since I seem to be functioning normally besides the pain.
Thanks

Due to your symptoms, it sounds like you just strained a muscle in your chest area. This is not only common, but also harmless. You would know if you had a broken or bruised rib – my mother had one and it wasn’t mild. Any sort of broken or bruised bone never has just mild pain. The heart or lung problem is out because those things just don’t go away, and you wouldn’t be functioning normally if this were the case.
Depending on how quickly your body can heal itself and how strenuous your activities are, it could take some time for the pain to go away. Everyone is different, so it’s tough to say. Speaking of strenuous activity, try to keep it less intense for a little bit so as not to worsen the pain/strain.
    Feel better!

wouldnt even attempt to make any dianositic on chest pain. that should be left to a professional medical Dr
You did not say if pain traveled to and down arms?.
You did not say if pain or feeling flushed?
Your skin what colour is it?
How long do these pains last?
If these pains continue for more than 15 minutes get yourself to a EMO at the hospital to be check on Heart monitor.
If there is any irregular beats or your heart they will tell you and advise you the best way to attend this.
Please do not waste time. It is important. We do not want you having a heart attack. It is far better to find out now than too late. You may be functioning normall and reluctant to go to the doctor, you would not be wasting our time either. Its better to be sure, safe than sorry.. Hey its our job remember

Hi! I’m having the similar issue. Recently, I’ve been noticing a mild sharp pain on the right side of my chest, sometimes center part of my chest, when I move a certain way. I don’t even any other pain in my arms, neck, etc. Would could this be?

pulled muscle is generally the cause, sometimes it can be caused by a tightening of the muscle. This can orrur if your arms are close together (like when you fold your arms in front of you) .
