I Have Had Light Chest Pain For The Past Few Days Off And On But Sometimes They Are Sharp, Any Ideas?

I have been having slight pains/ uncomfortable feelings in my chest on and off for the past couple days and sometimes they are sharp. It woke me up in the middle of the night a few nights ago but weakened so I went back to sleep but I have had these symptoms since. I am 24, 6’1 and weigh 190 and I believe in good health. I had heart xrays and an EKG last year and everything was good and all my blood work was perfect. I have no pain in my arm or anything that’s a sign of anything real serious. The pain is not overwhelming, just enough to make me worry about it. I called my Dr. and he gave me a prescription for Omeprazole 20 mg for reflux. I have been taking it for a few days and it’s made no major difference. I have heartburn often in the past and this is no heartburn kind of pain. The pain seems to lighten when I burp but would gas last this long? Does it take a few days for the meds to work? Any ideas? Thanks

You might havea diffrent kind of heartburn or something. Usually the meds kick right in…I would ask you DR. for a bigger mg like maybe a 30 mg would be better…..

Interesting. I’d like to see the responses for this as well. I’m fairly active and an ok-eater health wise and I have a pain in my chest area around my heart — but I’m hoping and doubting it’s not my heart, just for that fact that I’m fairly young. It seems to be a lingering thing, but it’s annoying to sleep with.

I would actually go to the doctor and get this checked out. Although it is normal for EVERYONE to get the occasional chest pain (as the bloodstream can get small air bubbles in it), having it happen on a semi-daily basis may indicate a real problem. Heart problems can develop at any time, so having another EKG to check on things wouldn’t hurt.
