for a couple of days now i’ve had “minor” pain in my chest that seems to come and go periodically, this certainly is not unbearable pain that’s keeping me from doing my day to day activities, and i’m not showing any of the other known symptoms of heart attack (ie trouble breathing, dizziness, blurr… vission, numbness etc), still is this something i should go to the emergency room for?

Yes, do go to the emergency room if you can drive, or have someone drive you. Otherwise call 911. I had a silent heart attack in my 30′s, so minor pain could indicate one too. At the hospital a blood test will reveal certain elevated enzymes if you’re having a heart attack. Don’t take any chances. I felt silly calling 911, but otherwise would have died, because I had to be defibrillated. Better safe than sorry, so please go!
Although chest pain or pressure is the most common symptom of a heart attack, heart attack victims may experience a diversity of symptoms that include:
Pain, fullness, and/or squeezing sensation of the chest
Jaw pain, toothache, headache
Shortness of breath
Nausea, vomiting, and/or general epigastric (upper middle abdomen) discomfort
Sweating
Heartburn and/or indigestion
Arm pain (more commonly the left arm, but may be either arm)
Upper back pain
General malaise (vague feeling of illness)
No symptoms (Approximately one quarter of all heart attacks are silent, without chest pain or new symptoms. Silent heart attacks are especially common among patients with diabetes mellitus)
Even though the symptoms of a heart attack at times can be vague and mild, it is important to remember that heart attacks producing no symptoms or only mild symptoms can be just as serious and life-threatening as heart attacks that cause severe chest pain. Too often patients attribute heart attack symptoms to “indigestion,” “fatigue,” or “stress,” and consequently delay seeking prompt medical attention. One cannot overemphasize the importance of seeking prompt medical attention in the presence of symptoms that suggest a heart attack. Early diagnosis and treatment saves lives, and delays in reaching medical assistance can be fatal. A delay in treatment can lead to permanently reduced function of the heart due to more extensive damage to the heart muscle. Death also may occur as a result of the sudden onset of arrhythmias such as ventricular fibrillation
NO CALL DR CAUSE IT COULD BE ACID REFLUX OR HEARTBURN I HAD THAT AND THEY DID A BUNCH OF TEST AND THEY FOUND OUT I HAD ACID REFUX
Could be indigestion, could be muscle strain or it could be a heart problem. You didn’t mention your age. If you’re no spring chicken (like me) get thee to a hospital, pronto.
Why take a chance.
Take care of it before it takes care of you ! Call 911 if you are feeling funny. We knew a Doctor who was feeling funny, and he knew heart problems were in the family. He waited too long to call 911. He died at a young age. He took care of himself so he thought it would not happen to him. It did not need to happen. Take care of yourself!
if its minor and goes away in a few minutes, its probably not something you need to call 911 for. you should get it checked out though with a doc though soon to see whats going on, if it is heart related or just indigestion or something
YES; if you are, overweight, over 40. Dont call 911 tho, just make your own way to hospital, those guys are busy enough.
You can get a Nuclear Cardiac Stress test and it will tell if you have ischemic heart disease that may be causing your chest pain. Cardiac events usually are associated with pressure, like the feeling of an elephant is sitting on your chest, left arm or jaw numbness.
If its minor and comes and goes..no dont bother 911. They are there for emergencies. Just make an appointment with your doc..have a check up, your doc will organise the appropriate tests and follow up with a cardiologist if necessary,
