Is Chest Pain Common After Pulmonary Embolism?

September 17th, 2009 by admin Leave a reply »

I am 32 and was diagnosed with pulmonary embolism in both lungs 2 months ago. The pain in my chest went away for about a month but now is returning and very gradually increasing. The pain is only on the left side. I am not yet having trouble breathing, but if it gets much worse I will. I am somewhat nervous about this since the pain was extreme before. I hope I am not having another episode. Is this a common or something I should be concerned about?

You should go to the emergency room right away. Don’t wait another minute, as this could be very serious; life threatening.

I agree that this should be checked ASAP. A question for you is did they determine the cause foe the PE s that you had? Are you on anti coagulation medications? Clots do not just happen unless there is an underlying cause. Find the cause and learn all that you can about it.

Girl I would go to the emergency room and get that checked out. I’m not try to scare you but better safe than sorry right. Also it will ease you mind to find out whats wrong. Good luck….

Did they do an echocardiogram when you had the PE? I would definitely go back to the doctor The PE possibly could have damaged your heart. I had a bilateral PE as well, in 2003, and after they gave me the clotbuster drug and everything, I didn’t have anymore chest pain. I’d go to the ER.
