February 17th, 2010 by admin Leave a reply »

The pain is also sometimes in the right side. It is only ever at night. He is 15 and a little overweight although he is very active. He has asthma and our family has a history of heart problems. The asthma inhaler sometimes re leaves these pains.
What are possible causes for this pain and what should I do?

It’s possibly just gas, as it gets trapped around that area sometimes, But of course if you are really concerned a trip to the doctor should ease your worry.

Might want to look into Precordial Catch Syndrome.
Precordial Catch Syndrome (PCS), also known as Texidor’s twinge, is a common cause of chest pain complaints in children and adolescents. It also occurs less frequently in adults. PCS manifests itself as a very intense, sharp pain typically at the left side of the chest which is worse when taking breaths. This typically lasts 30 seconds to 3 minutes, though some episodes last only a few breaths and in rare cases can last up to 30 minutes
Breathing in, and sometimes breathing out, often intensifies the pain.

This has happened to me tons of times, so a month or so I googled left side chest pain when breathing deeply or something and found out about PCS. It made me for so at ease. What a weight off my chest!
Although, you should still get him checked out by a professional as this may or may not be his problem.
