Variety Of Symptoms Part Of A Bigger Problem?

October 14th, 2009 by admin Leave a reply »

My wife has been suffering from a variety of symptoms lately that are worrying both of us more and more.
The first symptoms were pain in her chest. These vary from a dull ache to a sharp pinching, and are sporadic, sometimes not bothering her at all, other times hitting every half hour or so. The pain can be very debilitating, and on one occasion shot from her chest into her arm. This has been going on for about 1 1/2 to 2 months.
Yesterday, she complained of feeling very hot and sweating, even when she was doing nothing. Today, just about 20 minutes ago, she said she started feeling like part of both her hands were going to sleep (the thumbs and index fingers).
She’s already gone to the hospital regarding this matter, and the doctors found nothing wrong. They gave her Ibuprofen and Vicodin for her pain and sent her on her way. Neither do her much good.
Both of us are growing more and more concerned with this. Any help will be appreciated.

Get your wife to a different doctor ASAP maybe a specialist in cardiology she could have a blockage and could have a heart attack or stroke, or she could have a slip disk that is putting pressure on nerves causing the numbness.

I was just diagnosed with a heart murmur. I would recommend going to a heart specialist for a Nuclear stress test and an echo cardiogram. The shooting pain’s in the neck and down the arm is a warning of a stroke. They could also be a T.I.A. (transient Ischemic attack)These are some times caused by stress and panic attacks. Quit messing around in E.R.’s GO to a cardiologist.

The ER is not the place for this problem…get her into doctor and schedule an EKG ASAP.

You need to get her a second opinion, the symptoms sound like warning signs of a heart attack.
Try aspirin instead of ibuprofen, aspirin could help save her life by thinning her blood if she does experience a heart attack.

It could be related to her heart. Even though she was evaluated at the hospital for this, she needs to be evaluated again. The symptoms of a heart attack are mentioned by you. Women are often misdiagnosed because the symptoms are not always the ” typical symptoms” of a heart attack. Seek medical attention, ASAP. It best to play it safe. Give her a dose of Aspirin, 325 mg.

First of all, has she gone to her primary care physician? Has someone checked to make sure she hasn’t had a heart attack? Keep an eye on things and don’t let doctors brush off serious issues.
The symptoms could be related, or they could be independent of one another. The chest pain could actually be related to her hands-if she has a vertebrae out of whack, or her neck, she could just need an adjustment by a good chiropractor. Look for one who does a little bit of massage therapy along with the adjustments. A good chiropractor will coax things back into place. The hot flashes could be just that-hot flashes. Depends on her age.
Here’s another thing to look at–does she have any allergies? All of these symptoms sound very similar to symptoms experienced by a coworker–turns out she was simply allergic to a dye used in one of her medications!
    Good luck!

My first thought was heart, but since they checked that..hmmm. Did they do any bloods?
Could be a pinched nerve or a pulled muscle. She should get her neck exrayed to see if she might have a nerve issue in her neck that could radiate out and down. Push to see a specialist.

Ok…sounds like a strange question but… how old is she? Is it at all possible this could be menapause or pre-menapause? Since the hospital found nothing, I assume they ran a fair measure of tests etc., The only thing I can say is that in some women, when they begin going into menapause, they have aches simular to what is being described…the hot and sweating all of that…I’m in menapause at 34 and can understand it seems strange, but that may possibly it. I sincerely hope you find what the problem is! Good luck!

Get specialist help… It’s always better to be safe than sorry…. I say get a second opinion as from what you described, I don’t think it’s a simple matter… Doctor had been proven wrong at times too…
