Why Do I Get Chest Pain Everytime I Get My Period?

September 7th, 2009 by admin Leave a reply »

The chest pain starts a few days before my period starts and usually goes away when it ends. Sometimes it’s accompanied with shortness of breath. What do you think is the reason? I am going to the doctor just not now.
I’ve been tested for Anemia but I don’t have it.

It is possible that you have extra-pelvic endometriosis. A catamenial pneumothroax is endometriosis of the lung causing collapse. You might also notice that you are coughing up blood during your period. Endometriosis is when endometrial cells normally found in the uterus are found outside the uterus. Endo is usually confined to the pelvis, but can travel anywhere in the body, including the brain, eyes, lung, diaphragm and heart. The only way to test for endometriosis is surgery with an excision and biopsy. If this seems to be the case, make sure you do see a a gyn or reproductive endocrinologist who specializes in endometriosis as most gyns do not know enough about the disease nor do they have the technical surgical skills to effectively treat the disease. Do not waste your time with laser surgery or cautery. Through excision only.Good luck!

This is going to sound weird, but it’s a vague possibility for you.
I used to have anxiety-induced acid reflux, but it didn’t feel like heartburn. It felt like chest pain, really intense, making it very hard to breathe. I know that when I’m on my period, and when my friends are on their period, we have issues with our stomach just being generally upset. Yours might produce extra acid during your period, causing acid reflux and accordingly the chest pain. I didn’t believe my doctor until she gave me this horrible minty green goop to drink, some kind of antacid, and the pain went away immediately.
This may not be your problem, however, and you should ask your doctor. But next time, try taking a couple Tums or Rolaids and see how you feel.
