Pain In Chest/heart And Back. Hurts When Breathing But No Cough.?

February 20th, 2010

I’ve never come on here for a health question but considering I have a lot of specific details and have seen some legit answers on here I thought I would ask.
My back has been hurting by my shoulder blade extremely bad for the past three weeks. I think it’s just a pulled muscle. The pain keeps changing and getting worse (the actual pain has lessened but now it’s constant instead of just sitting or laying a certain way.. which I consider worse.)
Today though I rode my bike about 4 miles (2 one way, 2 back home). I got home and it felt like I was having an asthma attack. I don’t have asthma but I was hyperventelating and it took a long time to breath normally. My lungs and heart hurt too, especially while breathing. I thought it would go away but when I woke up about 8 hours later it’s still here. Every once in a while it feels as if my face is too tight too (as if there’s not enough skin? Hard to describe that one). It feels like somebody is standing on my chest. It hurts to breath in deep. It not only hurts in one lung, but both AND around my heart. My back is still hurting too and I’m not sure if it’s related.
I have NO cough, I don’t feel any other symptoms (besides feeling run down from everything hurting). I’m 20, I smoke but haven’t been smoking much at all lately since this all happened (I’m trying to quit anyway, this should help). I don’t think I did anything to my back. I probably pulled it without noticing but I didn’t do anything drastic. My lungs and heart didn’t hurt until I rode my bike. I’m not extremely active but ride a bike a lot so I see no reason that this would cause anything odd.
I also just got taken off my mom’s insurance so I’m asking to see if anybody thinks I should go to the doctor or if it’s just something that will pass.

Chest Pain/tightness, Difficulty Breathing, It Hurts To Breathe.?

February 19th, 2010

Hi, My name is Mike and I ended up in the E.R. last night at 2:00 in the morning because I have been having chest pains whenever I take a breathe. I don’t know what is causing this and the Doctor couldn’t seem to figure it out either. He performed and EKG and a Chest X-Ray and everything came back normal. All of the symptoms started 6 days ago and have been off-and-on until lately. Last night, it started when I woke up and wouldn’t go away at all; I woke up with it this morning. Last night was scary though, I started getting shortness of breath and everytime I tried to catch my breath, it was really painful. It seems to hurt worse if I have to bend over forwards, and tends to soothe it a bit if I lay straight on my back. Any replies are appreciated!
Thanks
- Mike

Chest Pain And Troubled Breathing After Running?

February 2nd, 2010

I went out for a run today, which I only intended to run for 20 minutes or so. But I ended up running an hour and a half. About 3 minutes into running, my chest started feeling a tight, sharp pain, and my breath felt like it was being smothered. This has never happened to me before, and I’ve never been diagnosed with asthma, or anything like it. It took about 10 minutes of walking for the pain to go away, but as soon as I started running again, the pain came back. What could’ve caued this?

Do Breathing Difficulties And Chest Pain Usually Accompany Sinus Infections (very Concerned)?

January 28th, 2010

About a week ago I got what seemed to be a sinus infection. I was really tired, my ears were popping, my throat was scratchy and, of course, my nose was simply pouring. None of those symptoms went away, but a few days ago I started coughing almost constantly. Then yesterday I started getting fairly intense chest pain (probably a 6.5/10 on the pain scale) and having difficulty breathing. Today the chest pain has only slightly worsened, but I’m having much more difficulty breathing. I have to take huge, loud breaths, but it doesn’t seem like they’re having that much of an effect. Also, my chest pain becomes much worse each time my chest expands. The pain is especially bad when there’s something around my chest, such as a bra. I’m a healthy, in-shape, 17-year-old girl and I’m starting to become very nervous. I’m going to see a doctor, but an appointment is yet to be made, and I’m really wondering whether we should wait a few days until we can go to my regular doctor or if we should go to the hospital. I do have a history of bronchitis and I’ve had pneumonia before. It’s just odd, because I seemed to get sick out of nowhere. I was sneezing for a week or so prior to becoming ill, but I didn’t feel at all sick, so I just assumed it was allergies.
Help? I’m really worried.

Chest Pain While Breathing An Deep Breathing? Has Anyone Got A Clue?

January 27th, 2010

After a somewhat severe chest side pain crisis that came about suddenly, my roommate was taken yesterday to the county hospital for investigations. After the tests what I can tell you is this: No heart-attack, no pulmonary embolism, and pain relieving drugs not to efficient in pain-treatment. He experiences pain with breathing, burping and mostly deep breathing. He hasn’t suffered any trauma to his chest/back region. Has anyone got any ideas as to what his affliction may be? He is 31 years old, around 100 kilos and 1,80m, with no family history related to heart disease. He is a somewhat heavy smoker with a somewhat sedentary lifestyle, but overall an active person. What could this be? I should mention he’s recently had flue-like symptoms with fever, but they’ve been gone for 2-3 days now.
