Why People Experience Chest Pain When They Have Left Ventricular Failure Resulting From Myocardial Infraction

September 20th, 2009

Florita Santos, a middle-aged woman, is admitted to the coronary care unit with a diagnosis of left ventricular failure resulting from a myocardial infarction. Her history indicated that she was aroused in the middle of the night by severe chest pain. Her skin is pale and cold, and moist sounds are heard over the lower regions of both lungs. Explain how failure of the left ventricle might cause all three of these signs and symptoms (the ones in italics).

Chest Pain On The Right Side Could Be Stress?

September 20th, 2009

I get chest pain that is tight that is a little to the right of my sternum, always in the same place. I only get it when I’m stressed. Obviously I’m not going to get a diagnosis over Yahoo Answers, but what do you think this could be?

What Causes Chest Pain + Rash On The Back Of He Ankles + Vein Pain?

September 14th, 2009

I experience those symptoms the past 2-3 weeks, however I am yet to see a doctor, because the symptoms seem to come and go and eventually will die down…I guess :) .
Some of the symptoms:
- chest pain
- pein in the veins of the arms and legs.
- rash on the back of the ankles(venus status dermatitis?)
- pale skin
- often affected mood or aggression? :)
- Often the pain “goes” from the heart to the lungs and to the stomach. The painful place often itches and it is red. I know read that this pretty much resembles shinkles???
I am 22 btw, don’t drink or not having any previous diagnosis.
I was thinking about heart failure or diabetes, but I don’t seem to have any of the other symptoms(no persisten cough, no thirst, no often urination, no bone pain, no fatique, no blur vision…).
The closest that I found is: Q fever…though I don’t get it when I have been in farms or similar areas :) .
I might be also hypohodric, since recently I read alot about neurology and the brain…hence some medical paranoia obviously catches me.
But yet, the chest pain sometimes is so obvious that I wake up in the middle of night – also – yes, when I lie on the bed – usually it’s worse.
Anyway, thanks!

Arthritis In The Chest What Are The Symptoms Pain Etc Places Pain Is Felt?????

September 10th, 2009

I don’t know whether or not it is possible to have arthritis in the chest, but in referrence to the ‘you have no joints there, so you can’t hav a joint disease there’ argument, you DO have joints there. A joint is any place where two or more bones meet. You even have joints in your skull, actually.
Arthirtis pain differs for everyone, but most often it is described as aching, burning, crushing, etc. (You should go to the Arthritis Foundation web site; they can give you a lot of information.)
There are other, similar conditions that can affect that part of the body and feel like arthritis. The first that comes to mind is fibromyalgia; one of the “tender point” pairs used for diagnosis is located in the chest near the collar bone.
If it is arthritis, your doctor can tell with a blood test; if it is something else, they’ll probably need a few more tests to know what it is.

How Can You Distinguish Between A Heartburn Or Chest Pain From A Mild Heart Attack?

September 7th, 2009

Are there key symptoms that help differentiate them? I’ve heard that heartburns/chest pains have similar symptoms to a mild heart attack, but before going on to assume anything, is there a way to tell the difference between them? In other words, how do you know if you’re having muscular aches or indigestion problems or acid reflux to something more serious like heart problems showing its early stages and coming in the form of a mild heart attack? I know there aren’t any sure ways to pinpoint what exactly it is before seeing the doctor, but until I can do that, is there a way to differentiate them from one another? Are there different key symptoms for each of the diagnosis I’ve mentioned? Please help me. I’m in kind of a crisis, so please be serious in your answers and don’t use this opportunity to make jokes about my situation. Thanks in advance. 10 points for best answer!
