The Importance of Cardio Exercise

December 21st, 2009

The importance of cardio exercise programs is relevant not only for weight loss but for health improvement too. The name of cardio that applies to very intense physical exercises is given by the intense stimulation of the heart during the activity. This means that the heart beats at a higher rate, pumps more blood towards the muscles and burns fat as a means of energy consume. A cardio exercise program will stimulate the entire body, and here we refer not only to the skeletal and the muscles but to the circulatory, nervous and respiratory systems as well. Plus, the metabolism accelerates because more energy is necessary to cope with the sustained effort.

As long as it stimulates the systems in the parameters mentioned above, any intense physical activity can turn into a cardio exercise. Experts in fact emphasize the importance of sticking to one activity you like for better results and personal satisfaction. Good cardio exercise examples include aerobics, swimming, cycling, jogging, stair climbing, rowing or skiing, but the list is far from over. The important part is not the sport or the activity you engage in as such, but the way you practice it. Smooth and healthy training should thus never overlook some important stages  of any physical exercise.

Practice a cardio exercise for thirty or sixty minutes at least three times a week. However, you should start the training gradually, with a ten-minute warm up for the heart rate to increase slowly towards the peak expected in full cardio workout. Then, some rest intervals should be left between the workouts, because you can thus eliminate the risk of over-training and you allow the muscles to increase in mass even in the relaxation state.

Some of the sports included in the cardio exercise category could prove highly challenging. They take time, perseverence and an ever improving physical condition. You’ll surely know what I mean if you have ever tried running up hill or sprinting. The pressure that the joints and muscles are put through is outstanding, but around 300 calories or a pound and a half will be burned in no more than thirty minutes. This is definitely a dream come true for people eager to get slim, but the path to fitness is definitely not simple or easy.

Newest Evidence Now Says Chocolate Can Protect Against Cancer and Heart Disease

November 14th, 2009

In one of those health and nutrition stories that make you think “when are they going to tell us to start smoking because it’s beneficial”, Chocoholics around the world can quite literally take heart from research that shows chocolate can help you live longer.According to US research, people who eat chocolate and sweets up to three times a month live almost a year longer than those who eat a lot or those who steer clear of the stuff altogether.Scientists from the Harvard School of Public Health studied almost 8,000 American men aged 65 for a five-year period. The results were adjusted for other risk factors, including smoking and drinking.

Chocolate, which was the obsession of the Aztecs (even today chocolate is used as a routine ingredient in Latin American cooking) was introduced to Europe after the Conquistadors’ conquest of South America. Chocolate is big business with a global market worth of around billion, so this research is excellent news for the manufacturers.

It’s great news too for the British, who consume on average 14 kilograms per person of sugar confectionery each year. OK, that’s not just chocolate bars, but includes chocolate biscuits, Jaffa cakes, Easter Eggs etc.In contrast, and not as you would have thought given their reputation for obesity, the average American only eats around 6.5 kilograms of the stuff in the same time period.

Although the test included both chocolate and sweets, the researchers believe chocolate is the key to a longer life because it contains substances that protect against heart disease and cancer. Chocolate, like red wine, is believed to contain chemicals called phenols. These can also be found in strawberries, and is why people first started putting them in champagne flutes as they counteract the harmful effects of alchol. They reduce free radicals that damage cells and DNA. The process of chocolate making from the cacao plant may also restrict the formation of the type of cholesterol which damages the heart as well as boosting the immune system.

However, as most food books will tell you, chocolate is high in calories and eating too much can make you fat, thereby actually increasing your risk of heart disease. So the startling truth, as with all these medical/diet/nutrition revelations, appears to be “moderation in everything” is the key to a long and happy life. Truth About Abs is an ab workout plan created by Mike Geary, a personal trainer and nutrition expert. The program focuses on specific exercises and a nutrition plan to shed fat around both your waist and your body overall.

Tedious cardio workouts are not the most effective way to burn fat and reveal your six pack abs. This program will show you the exact types of unique workouts that produce 10x better results.

What can the program do for you?

First, the program is geared towards both men and women, which is a plus. Second, Truth About Abs does not put the focus only on ab exercises.

There’s a reason that he has 10’s of thousands of customers in over 100 countries…because his ab fitness program works.

Can’t Lose Weight? It’s Not That Hard When You Know How

September 14th, 2009

Really think you can’t lose weight? Any reasons why you think that you can’t shed a bit of flab? Sadly the majority of people who want to lose weight get it in their heads that they simply can’t lose weight. Some mystical power is stopping them from achieving their weight loss goal.

The truth is they are reluctant to lose any weight at all. They are happy living the lifestyle they are living. Yet they will openly say they want to, but can’t seem to lose weight.

Losing weight is no big deal. It’s a mathematical equation, pure and simple. Your body needs to use more calories than it takes in. If we eat more than we burn off we get fat. Period.

Look at it from the other way and you will lose weight if you burn more than you consume. This is the crux of the problem. The average diet is so full of calories it’s almost criminal. If you compared what you should be eating against what you do eat you would give yourself a funny turn. I kid you not.

A basic example is the exercise for love handles, the side bend. Doing lots and lots of these will make you lose weight. Your guess is as good as mine as to how many you need to do. It’s a balancing act between your intake of calories and how many you burn off.

It’s easy to consume a full days calories in one go. Honestly! Fast food carries a huge amount of blame. Even the non sweet stuff can be packed with sugar. Sugar makes you get hungry quicker after digestion.

Our body converts most foods into a simple sugar called glucose, and uses this for energy. Sugary foods get used up much faster and then leave you feeling hungry again very quickly. There’s a lot of people think our sugar reliant diets is no accident. A western world conspiracy to get us eating (and spending) more.

The more we eat, the more we spend, the more they get rich. It’s a great formula for big business to get richer and richer. What’s the easiest way to get us to eat more? Add sugar to everything.

Like in a bar when there’s peanuts or pretzels on the bar to nibble on. We eat the salt and get thirsty so we buy more beer. To wrap things up you should lose weight if you eat less than you burn off. Can you do this on your own? I doubt it as the western worlds collective willpower is on the floor.

What you need is a hand holding system to help you. Something that will guarantee you lose weight if you follow it to the letter. If you think you’ve tried everything and still can’t lose weight. Consider trying a product with a whole new approach.

Can’t lose weight? Click this link and discover how you can.
