For the past couple of months I’ve been having chest pains. At first it just felt like pressure on and off. Then I started waking in the middle of my sleep because my chest would hurt and feel like it was being squeezed. Now my chest is hurting on a daily basis….and sometimes it hurts really bad when I take deep breaths and when I cough (mild cold symptoms have been causing me to cough frequently). Now I’m really starting to worry because if nothing is wrong with me why on earth would my chest be hurting on a daily basis? So…there’s got to be something wrong. Now I’m really going to see a doctor but I don’t know where to go or what kind of doctor I need to find? Am I supposed to just walk into the emergency room even though it’s not like I’m having a heart attack? Any advice on who or what I should do please! Thank you.

I’m 21 and have gone up and down in weight over the years. Don’t know if that’s relevant. I’m looking for a possible answer here because I don’t have health insurance to see a doctor. But last time I had chest pains when I had insurance in ’07, cardiologist said I was perfectly healthy.

ever since my dad died in the icu from a heart attack ive been having off and on chest pain. sometimes other parts of my body hurts when the pain is gone like my neck or head. i cant sleep at night thinking and worrying that i might have a heart attack and end up in the icu like my dad and die. he was 56 yrs old. my mom tells me im too young and i should sleep and etc but i dont want to wake up dead. i keep thinking its due to stress and anxiety and im so scared! help! ive been telling my mom and she said its nothing . i told my gpa the first time i had it and he took my blood pressure and it was normal and everything. my uncle and fpa laughed and told me im having panic attacks or anxiety and stop thinking abt heart attacks and my dad. its christnas and i dont want to end up in the er. im just extremely worried. i keep thinking of my dad and the symptoms he had and i keep thinking i might get them too!!!

Towards the end of last yr, i drank/smoked heavily and woke and started having problem sleeping on my left side, if i try to, i have a feeling that my heart is filling up with blood and cannot pump them out effectively, i have to lie on my back to sleep or sit up.i also feel some discomfort or slight pain in my chest when i try to check my blood pressure. My doctor recommended an ECG, heart Echo and x-ray, the ecg was normal as well as the xray, but the cardiac echo test showed that i have enlarged left ventricle and thick endo…, but my doctor doesn’t says he doesn’t think the enlarged left venticle is responsible for my not been able to sleep on my left side, he told me take my bp drugs more often (captopril, norvasc, delayed action nitrates) and some NAID. He also recommended that i take GTN or some nitrates to relieve me of the pain when its very intense, i tried it and i got some relief last night, I want to know whats really wrong with me, is my condition getting worse, will the pain go away eventually or is it the beginning of the end for me…
i have stopped drining and smoking since this yr but my gf upset me some days ago and i went out and drank and smoked heavily, i woke up in the middle of the night with my heart racing rapidly, i felt as if i will faint, i prayed to God to save me cos i knew something terrible might happen to me, God directed me to take some atenolol which i did and immediately my heart stopped racing…what is really happening to me

Kinda feels like gas but too high, it’s about an inch left of the center of my chest and runs from about 3 inches below the colarbone down another 3-4 inches. Sometimes feels higher or lower, burping doesn’t help tried hanging upside down. No fever or any other symptoms, back pain but I am pretty sure it is unrelated as it hurt for several days before due to a fall. Doesn’t hurt to breathe or cough or turn sideways or talk or anything else like that, just about two seconds after swallowing. Any suggestions besides “seek professional help immediately” I have a doc apptmnt for next Monday, earliest available.

For the last couple of months or so I’ve been experiencing a pain in my chest near my heart only when I inhale deeply. It happens every now and then no matter what I’m doing eg: walking, sitting, running etc. When the pain occurs I wait for it to pass and eventually it dulls. Sometimes it lasts only a minute or two. Sometimes it lasts for over an hour. Any ideas on what it is??
I am visiting the doc tomorrow, but just wanted to know what it could possibly be…

For over a year now every now and then I get this tight feeling in my chest and sometimes a pain in my left shoulder. I feel nautious and have very shallow breathing. The main symptom is the uncomfortable tightness of my chest. I have used my inhaler on several occasions thinking this is my asthma coming back and it does nothing to help the discomfort. Everytime it happens it lasts for a longer period of time. I am able to be active when it happens but it seems to suck all of my energy out of me. I am on several different medications which I have been taking for over 3 years. At 1st I thought this was an allergic reaction but when it happened yesterday I had just gotten off work, ate nothing, drank water and was relaxing and watching a movie. I looked it up on the internet and basically my symptoms are those of a heart attack. Also been experiencing “restless leg synd.” in arms and legs, mostly in arms???? Help!!!!!
