I Have High Blood Pressure Associated With Left Side Chest Pain.?

February 15th, 2010

I went to the hospital yesterday to have it checked out but after a heart ultra sound and ECG and various blood tests everything was normal with my heart. What did happen though was my blood pressure went sky high and had to bought down by medication while at the hospital. Is this the cause of my left side chest and shoulder blade pain.? Even though the pain today isnt so bad as yesterday should i be concerned with my heart and health?

Wild Swings In Blood Pressure, Fatigue, Atypical Chest Pain?

February 10th, 2010

4 months ago, my chest wall started feeling very heavy most of the time, my blood pressure began swinging all over the place, I’ve seen it as low as 52/40 and as high as 170/95 on the extreme ends..Sometimes though it stabilizes at my usual 125/70, eating seems to stabilize things.
At first, I was having alot of tachycardia, but that has died out and been replaced by severe lightheaded spells, worse chest pain, a distinct nausea/breathless feeling, mental confusion, and palpitations which are often brought on by movement (originating from the area about 3-6″ below the heart) and fatigue beyond belief.
I have had an EKG during the chest pain and it was normal. My echo was normal. Labs all normal. Chest xray normal. MRI brain normal.
I have been totally disabled by this…totally..no exaggeration, I am purely devastated as I can no longer even drive due to the unpredicability of the symptoms. 30/male

Do My Symptoms Indicate High Blood Pressure?

January 8th, 2010

I have had fatigue, constant neck pain and headaches, blurred vision, and overall have just felt so horrible almost every day that I can barely get through the day. I have had fleeting chest pains the past couple of days. The other symptoms have been going on for several months. I did an internet search and the only thing that seemed to match is high blood pressure. I haven’t had it checked lately because I don’t have insurance and have not been to the doctor. I also have type 1 diabetes. (I am 26)

What Could Be The Cause Of My Chest Pain, Chest Pressure, Legs/arms Going Numb And Shortness Of Breath Be?

December 24th, 2009

I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen Low to regulate and help my period and also prevent pregnancy. Before i started taking it, and even when I continued to take it, I was bleeding 2-3 weeks a month and usually for the first few days of it it was a dark brown discharge. A month into it or so i started feeling plenty of symptoms. numbness of legs and arms, shortness of breath, chest pain, headaches, nausea and fatigue. I went to family planning when i was on my third pack and they told me to instantly stop taking my birth control and see a doctor as soon as possible. I did, they found out I cant take in any more estrogen then my body already has so they want to start me on a ‘mini-pill’ thats just progestin, they said if I stayed on estrogen birth control I would have more then likely died from a heart attack, and they were speaking of POS (polycistic ovarian syndrome) so I have to get an ultra sound next month to look at my uterus lining and they also took some blood. That was only this past tuesday. I also had a Bacterial Vaginosis so they put me on some medication called Metronidazole. This past week ive been expieriencing the heart/chest pains more frequently and more powerful. It feels as though someone is sitting on my chest and I cant take a full deep breath in, i feel sharp pains on the upper right part of my chest through the day, but the deep breath problem stays all day. My legs and arms randomly start tingleling and then they instantly become numb. My lips even went numb this morning and started to twitch and unintentionally purse up. This scares me, Ive hear blood clots from my birth control, Ive heard an inflamed muscle by the rib cage, ive heard severe panic attack and ive heard heart murmur..should I go to the ER and get checked? or am I stable enough to wait until monday when doctor office’s are more open? What do you think it could be?

The Basics Of A Blood Pressure Monitor

October 11th, 2009

It may become mandatory to be compelled to observe your blood pressure from home; this maybe due to hypertension or other medical issues.  This is really simply done if you purchase a home monitor, but there are numerous kinds to select from and they’re different with regard to price and accuracy.  One kind of monitor that you can buy is the one we are all familiar with when we are making a trip to the doctor’s office.  This one is typically known as the aneroid blood pressure machine.  It operates by first wrapping an air bladder around your higher arm and then a stethoscope is placed on top of your arm above the elbow.

Your heartbeat is then listened to and you have got to hang around for it to vanish after the air pad has been pumped full of air.  To take the reading, a dial is attached on the cuff and an arrow points towards a measurement when the heart beat is first heard and when it was last heard.  These 2 numbers are your blood pressure.  Though the aneroid monitor is hard to use, it’s the least expensive type and it’s also intensely correct.  However, if you have to do a reading with this monitor on yourself, it is especially tough to do.

Those that have hearing issues must avoid this type of monitor since having the power to listen for the heart beat is vital.  A more preferred sort of blood pressure monitor is the digital version.  These are miles better to use and are also correct if you don’t have irregular heart rates.  You also need to recollect the reading is influenced by movements made in the test.  The digital models also cost more than aneroid blood pressure monitors.

There’s no difference in the way digital and aneroid blood pressure monitors work.  Both kinds require that your arm be wrapped with a bladder that’s's attached to the monitor, but the digital monitors will mechanically pump air into the bladder and then release it.  You’ll then get a digital reading of your heart rate and blood pressure.  For those folks that are active there is a wrist heart rate and blood pressure monitor.  It is extremely simple to use since all that has to be done is to strap it on your wrist.  With the simple pressing of a button your pressure can be checked at any point or anyplace.  The results of the reading can be stored for later comparison and it has voice capacities which come in useful when you are running, as an example.  Another sort of monitoring device is the finger blood pressure monitor.  This is a good choice if you’d like something small and portable, because these monitors are truly satisfactorily small to be held in a hand.  They digitally display, save and track readings.  However, this kind of blood monitoring device is also not as correct as the kinds that take readings from your arm.  Employing a finger blood pressure monitor is simple, though.  All you would like to do is insert a finger in the opening of the monitor, push the button and wait two seconds for the reading to turn up.  As you can see there are masses of calls for you when it comes to blood pressure monitors so depending on your necessities you can select one.

When at home the aneroid or digital monitor should serve your needs but if you are on the move, for example running or jogging, and need to trace your blood pressure the wrist or finger monitor would be way easier.  As a last reminder, your blood pressure done at home or while outside must be checked and compared with your GP’s's office to observe them for accuracy.
