Is Intense Pain In The Jaw Line Really A Warning Sign Of Heart Attack?

February 19th, 2010

I just received an email, Subject: Heart Attacks and Drinking Warm Water. Usually I treat such emails as junk, but this one I read. Is there any truth at all in this claim? And are people who “send this to a friend” just gullible?
This is what it says about heart attack:
“A serious note about heart attacks – You should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting. Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line.”
“You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack. Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms.”
“60 per cent of people who have a heart attack while they are asleep do not wake up. Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep.”
“Let’s be careful and be aware. The more we know, the better chance we could survive.”
“A cardiologist says if everyone who reads this message sends it to 10 people you can be sure that we’ll save at least one life. Read this & Send to a friend. It could save a life.”

I’m 32 Wks Pregnant And Got Really Sick Last Night. Upper Back/chest Pain, Hurt To Breathe…pneumonia?

February 15th, 2010

A little more info: It came on quite suddenly(within an hour) I’ve had cough/cold symptoms for the past couple of weeks (mucous, coughing, plugged ears/sinuses). Last night it started with a backache/headache and then my chest started to hurt. My wrists and elbows started to ache and I just felt terrible. My ears also hurt pretty bad and my throat. Not when I would swallow but my neck would just radiate pain…feeling like its coming from my throat and it went down into my chest? I couldn’t sleep all night as I was in aching pain. I don’t have a fever. This morning I feel a little better but all symptoms are still there and I’m very tired. Could this be the start of pneumonia…should I just give in and go get it checked out. I hate to go and just be told its just a virus.

I Got A Really Sharp Pain In My Chest, What Could Be Wrong?

February 9th, 2010

I was at work and I got a little thirsty, so I bought a cherry coke out of the machine. I went into the lunchroom and took a drink and as soon as I swallowed it my chest hurt really bad. I couldn’t stand, so I sat in a chair. The pain lasted for at least a minute, then it slowly faded away. Later on I finished the soda with no problem. What could have caused the pain?

I’m Really Worried About My Chest Pain? Gp Said It’s A Virus, And Said It Will Go Away…?

December 25th, 2009

Hi
I’m a 26 years old female. Never had any medical problems in my life up to early this year, when I studied really hard and drank about 6 cans of red bull within 3 days. It was in Feb 09 and the next morning I fainted, I had chest pains when breathing & when lying flat on bed. I went to my GP and she said that it was shock reaction, nothing to worry about. After a few days the pain went away, I was fine for 8 months. Last Thursday I felt like Im coming down with the flu – sore throat, running nose – that’s it ( no fever or other symptoms). But chest pain appeared again, initially I thought it’s because I had cold (as the pain was only really minimal) But since Monday it increased, and it felt exactly same as the one I experienced first time In Feb ( what I thought was after the red bull, I should note I haven’t drank Red Bull since Feb).
So today I went to my GP. The nurse checked my BP 128/86 and pulse 102. She said my BP is fine. I explained my pain to the GP – which increases with movements: whenever I lie down, it takes 10-15secs for the pain and pounding in my chest, or even neck to go away. Whenever I swallow anything I feel a bit of pain in my windpipe (I think) also I can’t take a deep breath as it is painful, etc. She examined me (asking if I feel any pain if Im sitting still – the answer was no and saying that everything seeps clear when listening to my chest) and concluded that it is related to my cold, and the virus must have infected the muscles – that’s where the pain is from. So she said to leave it for now, and ordered blood tests for tomorrow…
But I don’t think she ever noticed the result of my pulse 102! And I checked it this evening again, it’s still high. (I counted together with a friend she had 50, and at the same time I had already 70 beats) I feel unwell, whenever I walk and try to take a deep breath, I have a feeling like I might collapse in a minute!!!
I’m thinking maybe I should go to emergency instead? Or shall I go to see the doctor again tomorrow.
All your opinions will be really appreciated. Many thanks x

Diagnosed With Anxiety, Is That Really What’s Causing My Chest Pain?

December 12th, 2009

I went to the doctor a few times this past month for a number of ailments, the doctor said I have anxiety. I had back pain for 2 months now, as I pulled my Rhomboid at the gym, but also neck and chest pains! The pain isn’t that I feel short of breath, but my heart starts to race (even when I’m calm!) and my chest starts to hurt. Not one side, but both sides. It feels like my lungs.
I’m opening a business also, I’m stressed about that. I’m also worried about a lot of things, but generally I’m a calm person. Stress has never been a factor in my life! I deal with stress very well, or at least maybe I thought I did.
Is chest pain really an anxiety symptom like the doctor said? He seemed to be not worried at all about it!
Thanks in advance
