I have small burst of pain in my chest lasting about a minute. Its mostly on the left side, sometime on the right. I am taking medicine for asthma, which I have, but it doesn’t help. I have lung problems but my doctor says I am fine. What should I do?

January 30th, 2010My husband has had two episodes of severe chest pain in the last week. First it was just severe chest pains and today he had sever chest pains associated with numbness on the left side and tightness of the jaw. I gave him two Bayer Asprin each time and he got alright. He will not go to the Dr. He is Diabetic, Sleep Ap, High Blood Pressure and he had surgery on his shoulder 3 months ago. He had test ran on his heart three months ago and was find.

I don’t know if I’m even posting in the right category… For several weeks I’ve had varying levels of pain in mainly the right side of my chest. One time in particular I was lying on my bed and it was such an awful feeling I found myself gasping, with my hand clamped over my chest, pushing my spine into the bed not quite knowing what to do with myself because the feeling wouldn’t go away.
Since then it has been on and off, occasionally it feels like there is a rope around my chest, but it’s not as if I can’t breathe, it’s just tiring to get enough air. Also had fever on and off, but only low-grade, nothing above 38.
The past few days the pain has been constant, it’s in the right edge of my breast below my armpit, also in my right arm. I’ve had a dry, non-productive cough on and off for a week, and also in the past few days the feeling there is some kind of heavy creature sitting on my sternum has increased.
This is quite annoying, and I feel a bit silly complaining about it again to my doctor, as I had a chest x-ray and blood test a couple of weeks ago and they were clear!
The pain isn’t agonising, and it’s not as though it’s on the left side or I’m suffocating, and it is only on and off, – but it’s just an awful feeling.
Anybody have any ideas? I don’t have asthma. Don’t smoke. It isn’t costochondritis, I had that years ago, this is nothing like. Anything else, pleurisy, bronchitis etc would have shown up on the x-ray, plus I don’t have flu or cold symptoms. No trauma etc. No diabetes. Not overweight.
Please help if you can, I’d really appreciate it. May I also ask that you don’t simply say “see a doctor” – I saw one. I will go back.
But in the mean time, if these symptoms ring a bell…

Chest Pain On Left Side Of My Chest?
January 21st, 2010Since this morning (Going on about.. 6 hours or so now).. I have had this chest pain that will just not go away. Its mostly on the left side of my chest and it has been radiating all over. My chest is pretty tight..I also have cramps underneath my ribcage.. They feel like the cramps you get in your sides after you exercise. Im SLIGHTLY nauseous.. not enough for me to be worrrying about running to the bathroom or anything like that. When I rest, the pain gets better and actually went away for a little bit today, but when I picked up my son, and walked up the stairs, it got pretty bad again. There is no pain in my left arm or back… Just in my chest. My mom said she thinks its gas.. So I took some GAS-X, and it seemed to have helped briefly (maybe it was all in my head though?) and now the pain is changing directions.. like Ill have the cramps under my ribcage, and then it’ll move up into my chest again. Im also wondering if its stress. Ive been prescribed Clonazepam, but Im nervous to take it because I dont want to get too loopy. I want to go to the hospital, but I dont want to sit there for hours just to have them send me home. Has anyone has symptoms like this before? What do you think it could be? Please help

Is An Aching Chest A Normal Side Effect Of Tonsilitis?
January 19th, 2010I went to the doctors yesterday, and they diagnosed me with tonsillitis after a week of a sore throat and feverish symptoms. They prescribed me with Phenoxymethylpenicillin Potassium to take four times a day on an empty stomach. I have now developed tight chest pains, and was wondering if that’s normal? It sort of hurts to breathe. Also if anything my throat is perhaps more swollen, and some glands in the roof of my mouth have swollen as well. Any help?
