What’s This Pain In The Chest?
February 23rd, 2010My stepdaughter keeps having pains in her chest. She’s 19 years old and very healthy other wise.
It is not accompanied by any other symptoms and hurts at random momemts throughout the day. It happens every day, several times a day. Any ideas on what it could be? Thanks!
What’s The Difference Between Chest Pain Before A Heart Attack And Normal Discomfort From Something Like Mucus?
February 17th, 2010Both times mine happened the same way, it starts out feeling like slight heartburn or indigestion and within 5 or ten minutes it has progressed to severe heartburn and pain in chest, followed by severe sweating and left arm aching and sometimes nausea. within 15 minutes it feels like someone has parked a dump truck on your chest and and the feeling of a rope around your chest being tightened tighter and tighter, and you are pouring sweat like a fountain. by this time you better hope your pulling up to the ER door because your time is about up! they need to start a nitroglycerin iv drip immediately in order to dilate your arteries where the blockage is, then insert a stint to hold it open and allow blood flow to resume. if this is not done right away it will starve that part of the heart for oxygen and kill it forever. that’s what happened to me the fist time, i was in cancun and after receiving nitro and feeling much better i continued on with my vacation not knowing that by doing so i had let the bottom halve of my heart die. hospitals in cancun won,t touch a tourist without 10 or 20 thousand cash to put in their hand and still don’t care if you live or die. they love our money but they don’t like us. am very lucky to still be here.
What’s Wrong With Me? Paxil, Chest Pain, Stupid Doctors?
February 13th, 2010I had an intense chest pain and difficulty breathing this past Thursday, so I went to the ER. After being checked, the doctor told me that my blood, EKG and x-ray results didn’t show any problem. She said that it was probably acid reflux, and so I spent the entire day taking Maalox. On Friday morning, the pain and pressure continued, which made me go to a clinic to get a different opinion. This doctor told me that it was an anxiety attack which had caused these symptoms. I really disagree with him, because I don’t feel anxious or depressed. Anyway, he prescribed 10mg of Paxil for 30 days. I’ve already purchased the medication, but after reading about the side effects, I’m not sure if I will take them. The real problem that I have is that I still continue to have the chest pain, although the pressure has gone away since Saturday. What should I do? I’m running out of ideas.

Chest Pain And Dizziness, What’s Going On?
January 20th, 2010Hi, I’ve had a recent (probably last 6 months) problem with chest pain and dizziness. Over the last 6 months, I’ve developed a mild chest pain which comes and goes, but has increased overall over time. I went to the emergency room about 6 months ago for it, and the doctor did a battery of tests and told me it was probably asthma, and prescribed an inhaler for when the pains come back. I tried that and it did nothing.
Oh, about me, I’m 24, have a BMI of about 28, and in average shape. I exercise about an hour a day 5 days a week and can usually handle at least 30 min+ hard exercise (basketball, swimming, hiking) before I even start to feel winded or tired.
Anyways, about a week before yesterday, I started to have unusual tiredness (walking up stairs made me winded). The day before yesterday, my pain came back reasonably strongly (about 4-5/10) and I was very dizzy, somewhat short of breath, cold, weak, extremely tired, and had trouble focusing. So, I went to the emergency room. I was admitted and they did the full battery of tests, blood, EKG, urine, x-ray. They said my chest x-ray looked fine, my blood showed no signs of the enzyme marker for heart distress. The only test that came back unusual was that my liver function test was slightly abnormal. I was hooked onto a monitor during my stay, and in that time my heart rate ranged from 75-125 despite the fact that I was laying down and relaxed, and my SPO2 ranged fluctuated from 93-100. They gave me some IV fluids which made me feel better, and discharged me with the diagnosis of stress/anxiety. I followed up yesterday with my primary care doctor and he said the same thing.
Today, my symptoms are back. I went for a short walk (about 1000 yards up the street and back) and I felt very short of breath right after, and as of me writing this, I have chest pain and feel somewhat faint. Earlier today, I had some chest pain and pressure, felt very faint with a tingling feeling (the kind you get when you hand falls asleep) in my head and almost passed out. What’s going on?????
I know the battery of tests show I’m fine, but is it possible something could be wrong that can’t be detected by the standard battery of tests? a genetic heart disorder? something else?; or is this really all “in my head” (anxiety/stress). I’m typically pretty laid back and don’t get particularly worked up about anything so I have difficulty believing the stress as an only explanation. I’d just like to figure this out once and for all. Thanks in advance for the help!
Chronic Chest And Back Pain Around The Lungs And Tingly Fingers. What’s Wrong With Me?
January 4th, 20102 months ago, I experienced flu-like symptoms. Around this time, I started developing chest (tightness which causes shortness of breath) and back pain (stabbing, aching) that is not muscular. The chest pain location varies from my upper and lower portion of both sides of my chest. Sometimes it is right over my heart. Sometimes the pain appears to originate around my sternum. I have been experiencing these symptoms for over 2 months and they have gotten progressively worse within and across days. I do not have Lyme’s disease, gallbladder disease, acid reflux, or abnormal CBC (except low vitamin D) levels. Recently I have developed a transient slightly tingly sensation in my right fingers following tightness around my armpit (auxiliary?) area which triggers my fingers to turn cold. I also have irritable bowel syndrome. What could all this mean? PLEASE HELP!!
Diagnosed With Anxiety, Is That Really What’s Causing My Chest Pain?
December 12th, 2009I went to the doctor a few times this past month for a number of ailments, the doctor said I have anxiety. I had back pain for 2 months now, as I pulled my Rhomboid at the gym, but also neck and chest pains! The pain isn’t that I feel short of breath, but my heart starts to race (even when I’m calm!) and my chest starts to hurt. Not one side, but both sides. It feels like my lungs.
I’m opening a business also, I’m stressed about that. I’m also worried about a lot of things, but generally I’m a calm person. Stress has never been a factor in my life! I deal with stress very well, or at least maybe I thought I did.
Is chest pain really an anxiety symptom like the doctor said? He seemed to be not worried at all about it!
Thanks in advance
What’s Could Be The Cause Of This Chest Pain?
November 29th, 2009I’m 32 years old and I’m having this little discomfort in my chest, it feels heavier. One day I tried to push a car and had a chest pain. It felt like my chest muscles are squeezing me too much. The pain is gone instantly when I stopped pushing. I never felt this kind of chest pain before but I do feel a milder version sometimes when pushing or lifting something. What could be the cause of this?
